We all would agree that someone looking over our shoulder while we work can be disconcerting.

We tense up, get self-conscious, and our ability to focus on our work is greatly diminished.

It’s human nature for us to rush so those peering eyes go away asap.

Not a recipe for accuracy!

So imagine the mistakes that could be made when clients watch their tax preparer do their taxes.

Your income tax returns are one of the most important financial documents you sign each year.

It is not something you want rushed, ever.

There should always be a high level review by a different CPA in the firm before a draft is provided to you.

If your preparer does not have a full review done by someone else, this is not enough diligence spent on your behalf.

Even if the fee was (zero) $0.00, the return shouldn’t be trusted under these circumstances.

My method is more time consuming, and therefore more expensive, but it’s all about quality control.

Quality costs money, and it should.

My method:

1 – Client provides documents.

2 – Current documents are compared to last year’s documents.

3 – Client contacted for missing documents.

4 – Draft of return sent to client for review.

5 – Now the client and I can thoroughly review it without rushing.

6 – We can SLOWLY discuss client questions and then fine tune and finalize the return.

(In person, via video chat or on the phone)

7 – Once client approved, we e-file it.

We see tax returns that were hastily prepared everyday.

Where clients have walked into a preparer’s office, sat for 15 minutes, and left with a completed return.

I know many people feel great anxiety leaving their tax documents with someone.

But trust me, there is a better way.

A way where you and your family can replace anxiety and rushing with calm, greater accuracy and peace of mind.

Remember, the moment you have a business or tax question is the moment you should be calling me.
